| Post subject: | On Death and Past its Gates |
After that last ounce of the will to live is drained from a mortal, the mortal passes the Gates of Death. The Gates can only be entered, but never left. However, a mortal may pass through the Gates many times in the same direction. Death links what people believe to be different worlds, different dimensions, and different forms of existence altogether. Past Death, a mortal will almost always lose his or her memory of the past lives he or she lead prior to the current one. Certain people of strong will and also know the secrets of Death can avoid the memory wipe that occurs prior to reincarnation. These mysterious beings are known to mortals as Immortals, due to that Death does nothing to affect them in anyway. To them, Death is merely a fast method of transport between worlds. Even those of usually strong will but do not know of the secrets of Death will cheat Death in lesser ways. Occasionally, an event may trigger a past memory, thought to be lost. Another strange phenomenon is that the place of reincarnation is related to the dying person’s last thoughts. If a man dies and his last thoughts are of his lost wife, he is reincarnated closer to his wife. Strange connections affect a Death in uncountable ways. Love is only one of many. Authors and other artistic peoples dealing with stories (e.g. playwright) of abnormal talent are another interesting case where Death can be cheated in a lesser way. The stories they weave with pens are not mere stories. They are the recollections of a world they once lived in. Thought it may only be a vague recollection, the worlds that the masterful spinners of stories create indeed exist. |
